We tell ourselves “I need to have more experience to earn the right to speak up” or “I’m just not a speak on video kind of person” or “I’m just not good at speaking” — we learn these beliefs from our experiences and they rule our life.
The first step to healing and growth is to acknowledge these rules holding us back. It’s painful to look back, dig deeper and confront the truth. But the truth will set you free, and it’s absolutely necessary.
“If you accept the opinion, it becomes an agreement now, and you put all your power into that opinion. The only thing that can break a spell is to make a new agreement based on truth.”
We’re taught since young to “work harder, do more” if we don’t get the results we want. Perhaps we were even prescribed advice or received opinions about what we should or should not do.
Many fail to see the underlying rules and beliefs holding us back. We don’t understand why we’re stuck, and we just keep working harder, perpetuating our beliefs of not feeling good enough or simply being frustrated at the lack of results.
Wisdom and courage lies in self-reflection and coaching. Identify the rules that aren’t serving you, make peace with them and create new rules based on truth.
When my coachees start their Own Your Voice Journey they are introduced to the “Rewire Beliefs” process and practices which includes a lot of:
- holding space for themselves to explore their beliefs
- being honest themselves about their fears, some of those that has been tucked away for years
- and overtime learn how to rewrite these beliefs and anchor on their truth.
It’s not an easy process and it takes TIME. And what heartens me the most is when coachees of mine who are extremely busy leaders at work take the time to work on themselves.
This leads to greater self-acceptance, authentic confidence, and an aligned brand presence.
Another coachee of mine on their first week of coaching. Crying is a beautiful form of release and surrender.
It brings us so much healing and acceptance towards ourselves and our journey. This is important when learning anything.
Wanna be a better salesperson? A better entrepreneur? A better teacher? Literally anything — understanding:
- the fears holding us back
- and our true intention behind wanting to do the work we do
These two will surface in our words, actions and results eventually, so might as well take the time to explore in a comfortable timeline.
SO HERE’S SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT THIS WEEK:
- Think about an area you’d like to improve on or gain clarity in.
- Ask yourself: What is everything you know about this area / topic? Write down EVERYTHING.
- Scan through everything you’ve written down. These beliefs, thoughts and emotions are running your life consciously or subconsciously.
Remember, you have everything it takes to Own Your Voice.
